Gailey's Breakfast Cafe

The restaurant has a lot of character. The staff is very friendly and it is clean. Although they didn't have any short table available when I came, they made us feel welcome at the bar. I would have left a 5 star review, but I wanted a virgin strawberry margarita. They didn't carry and strawberries is what the bartender told me. I thought that war one of the things all bars had. If they didn't have strawberries, they had the syrup to make it still. They also sought have any lemons for my water. I strongly suggest that you go earlier before they run out of things.

Fantastic eating me and my friends went for the first time this evening. And we are genuinely upset we went to other places for breakfast.

First and last time eating here. The food was barely edible. I had the biscuit with bacon, sausage, cheese and bacon. The gravy was good! The rest wasn’t all that great. Wife had a Belgian waffle with bacon and eggs. Her entire meal was horrible. How can you mess up a waffle. Your batter is off and waffle maker to hot. Bacon was something you’d get from subway. If your looking for a cheap meal this is your place. If you’re looking for a good meal go elsewhere. I can’t recommend this place.

We love Gailey's for a nice lunch with the family. Good food and atmosphere for talking and visiting while sharing a meal.

Food was pretty good. Stopped by for breakfast for lunch with two friends. Waiter was some combination of nervous and surly. Presented us with one check after not asking whether we wanted it split, so he had to redo it. Small list of beers, but he didn’t know them, and seemed impatient with my inquiries. I had a better experience here on the previous visit, so I don’t want to ding this place too much based on one bad service experience. I don’t eat out for my health, but for enjoyment. A sour waiter should get another job.

Imagine turning the corner on a cold day and seeing the porch light on your grandma's house inviting you in for a meal. Except your grandma is also a cool hipster that puts a dope modern twist on breakfast. There's a reason this place frequently has a line out the door. Because it's good as heck. I brought my cool uncle from San Francisco here and he loved it. He's got high standards, friends. I recommend everything on the menu. Eggs Benedict, waffles, SWEET POTATO HASH BROWNS??? I'm living for it. And so should you.

This was my first time there. It will not be my last. The food was great. The service was very good. The setting was very good. I would recommend it to you. The only thing is that that parking is a little challenging. Be patient. It is worth it.

My wife and I were visiting Missouri. We decided to stop and have breakfast before leaving to go back home. Gailey's breakfast cafe come as a great place for breakfast. The prices are MORE then fair and the portion sizes are huge. If I ever come back to MO I will defiantly be eating here again!

Charming location for breakfast. Great atmosphere which includes live music on Sundays. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff. El Jefe skillet and 2 egg Downtowner Breakfast Special. Highly recommend the Gailey Daily and Kick Start coffee creations to start your dining experience.

Food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy. Both staff and patrons were friendly. Expect large portions here!

Yum! I love the variety of traditional and unique fare on the menu. Everything I tried had a robust flavor profile. Bland is NOT on the menu! There are different seating areas in the cafe, created as it has expanded through the years, each with its own atmosphere. You won't regret sitting down in Gailey's!

Delicious breakfast!!!! I will be stopping again I had the Julia’s tacos the waitress was awesome and we sat and watched the cooks make our food right in front of us..... always a fun experience street parking and fun shops around the area...

Excellent service from the wait staff. Food is pretty standard cafe food but tasty. I am not disappointed with the food.

Sweet browns,sweet browns, sweet browns! If you like a sweet potato then sweet Browns are for you.!!! They are similar to hashbrowns except made with the sweet potato. This joint has a good old fashion breakfast. And best brunch around.They are not trying to be trendy they just are. The atmosphere is super casual and relaxing. Check out the bathroom ...the sinks are really cool. And they Have an extensive bar menu so you can have a really great brunch if you so desire. And one last thing did I say Sweet Brown’s.???!!!

Absolutely amazing breakfast! Came here while visiting friends in Springfield! Couldn't have asked for a better breakfast! They had a 20 min wait. That really tells you how great their breakfast is!!! I was so stuffed at such a great price! And the staff is great!

Unique and creative menu choices, great cocktails. Good at any time, breakfast lunch or dinner. And a wonderful historic atmosphere. This place is a regular stop for us.

Wonderful breakfast bar. They are only open in the mornings until 3 sunday- tuesday. They are open for a happy hour 2-6 Wednesday-Saturday. Wednesdays until 10 pm. They have comedy Wednesdays. They breakfast was amazing!! First time for sweet potato hashbrowns and they were awesome. This is a perfect stop for breakfast!! Bathrooms were nice and clean. The building it cool too. Glad I stopped.

Our favorite place to have breakfast in all of Springfield! Have never had a bad experience, and the food is always delicious. Coffee is great and better than the other breakfast places we have tried.

We had the chicken and waffles. Very good savory dish. We added maple syrup to have a more traditional dish.

Normally it's a treat to eat there. The food is good but the service today was lacking. It was not as busy as other times I have been. But the staff had little to no interest in the customers today. Seemed odd, but maybe it was just an off morning? Idk, but I will be back in to try again.

Very clean inside and nice and friendly staff. The coffee was also very good. My only complaint was that the chicken and waffles was very salty. Other than that I was happy with my visit.

Highly recommend the flying Hawaiian omelet! Hubby loved the Downtowner. Look at those sausages links, not your average grocery store bought stuff. Our server was very attentive and quick with all our needs. Outstanding job Tommy👍 Will definitely be back.

Been eating at gailey's for years and they never let me down. This morning I discovered that they have the very best sausage links ever. Prove me wrong I dare you

This place is delightful. They created a new omelette for me after I joked with my kids that the chili cheese fries would be a great breakfast as an omelette. It turned out delicious and the kids ate half of it. Everyone's food was really good. The service was personable and excellent. Great food, great place. and no, Sinjin does not get credit for finding this place.

This place is the real deal. Great breakfast and coffee. If you get a chance I highly recommend sitting at the barstools that overlook the kitchen. You might come away smelling like grease, but it is worth it to see the action. The food itself is delicious. This place knows their way around potatoes. The fried breakfast potatoes that came with my skillet were perfectly cooked and seasoned. They've got a constant layer of hash browns on the griddle getting crispy. And folks, heed my words, you need to get the sweet browns. Sweet potato hash browns topped with a sprinkle of brown sugar. So good. I wish I could eat here more often.

Great atmosphere. Great food, solid service. Well thought out menu with excellent variety. Skillet fries and pancakes are really tasty! Bloody Mary mix is made fresh and is super! We will be back!

Had the chicken fried steak with gravy and two eggs. It was delicious. No waiting to get a table and staff was super friendly. Will definitely go back.

The servers were friendly and helpful. I had the breakfast casserole with hollandaise sauce, and it was okay. The problem was that it was practically drowning in the sauce. Without it, the casserole would have been really dry. If you order it, just ask for a little bit of sauce. The fruit that came with the casserole was really good. I also had half of a cinnamon roll, which was good and not too heavy. I'll probably come back and try something different.

Great breakfast spot! When I go it is always packed so you know the good is good. I always have a great server. There are many yummy options. If you have to wait in line grab some coffee while you wait.

Everything we've had has always been good here! They have daily specials, happy hour and $4 Monday mimosas! Service is fast and friendly and a popular place among the locals and college crowd.

Great service! We visited on a Sunday at brunch time (very busy) and the entire staff seemed well equipped to handle. Food was very good, overall. Would definitely recommend the English sausage over other options.

Went to Gailey's on a Wed night. Was looking to eat some breakfast, but they had a $5 Burger and fries special. It was perfect and James was perfect, kept our coffees full and gave info about the cafe and the local area. We would go there every Wed if we could, but hard to commute from FL every week.

Great place for breakfast! We went today (Sat) and while it was pretty busy, we were seated fairly promptly, and by the time we left, there were people lined up out the door. Go before 9 am if you go on a Saturday or you'll be waiting a long time. Our server, Melanie was fantastic, she was very friendly and came by often to check on us, without hovering. Their food is delicious and there are lots of menu options for all diets. Pricing is a tad on the expensive side, but for the quality of food, the service, and the beautiful historic downtown location, it's well worth it.

As always great food. The kitchen did lose our ticket according to the bartender. The Bloody Mary was excellent and he made it spicy like it should be. I had the Eggs Benedict...AWESOME and recommended. 🍳🍳🍳😊

Stopped by on the Sunday after Thanksgiving with the whole family (10 people) and got seated right away. Service was very accommodating and efficient for having such a large group, I got the Julia's Tacos with home fries. Everything was delicious and the food came out fast. Can't ask for more on a cold windy morning. We'll be back to try more of the menu.

Gailey's was a pleasant surprise! We originally picked the restaurant just because they had immediate seating, but it was delicious! We got so much food it was impossible to finish our meal. Our waitress kept my coffee full the entire time as well (and the coffee was good). I enjoyed the small atmosphere of the restaurant and the photos on the wall.

We had breakfast here for the first time today. I had one of the skillet breakfast and french toast, and they were delicious. My husband had the big boy. It came with three huge pancakes, your choice of meat and eggs; it was very filling for him. Service was great! I definitely recommend.

Amazing food and quality service. They have a vegan menu, vegetarian menu, and the staff was very conscientious of a dairy allergy in our family.

Great food. I had their Build Your Own Burrito, and it was amazing. I thought it was kind of small at first, but it was quite filling. Their options for fillings are great. But the hashbrowns, I think, weren't cooked properly. I think they forgot to cook them in one side. So one side was like normal hashbrowns, and the other was like mashed potatoes. Either way, I enjoyed my food. I would definity come back here again. And hopefully it won't be as busy.

Wonderful breakfast place downtown! Lots of interesting menu items and the food was delicious. Neat atmosphere as it is in one of the old downtown pharmacies with a lunch counter. I loved my seasonal pumpkin waffle, but I'm looking forward to coming back and trying something new. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous.

Fun and unique dishes for breakfast! I ordered the Flyin' Hawaiian omlet and skillet potatoes. My husband ordered the sweet potato hash browns for his side and they were so deliciously perfect! My daughter's kid's menu french toast was huge and yummy as well. The art on the walls made the atmosphere so interesting and fun. We'll definitely be back!

While exploring around Springfield for a new place to eat, my husband and I found this gem. The cafe is amazing! The food was so good. My husband got the big mike skillet with pumpkin waffle. I got an order of the peanut butter chocolate chip pancakes and a steak with 2 over-medium eggs and sweet potato hash browns. The pancakes were huge. The food was really good. The only thing I took note of is that the peanut butter sauce on the pancakes was really thick. Next time, I may ask for less. I wish I had asked his name, but the guy working the bar, which is fully stocked btw, was extremely charismatic and helpful with any questions we had.

This is a wonderful cafe. Our waitress Angelle was one of the best waitresses I've ever met. I highly recommend. Portions are big and for a good price.

Food delicious as always. Love the service. The only downside is parking, just like everything downtown.

The food was awesome, the servers were attentive, and it wasn't very expensive for a filling meal and drink. They have some live musicians and the decor is stylish. It's a bit noisy though, as its smallish and popular, so don't plan on hearing great background music.

The food was great. Service on the other hand not so great. Good thing I had some Mimosas to keep me going while I waited.
